Background for the Conflict

It all started when north Vietnam wanted to become communist. The south part of Vietnam did not. The north and the south had a raging war at the border. At this time USA wanted to stop the communism from goring throughout the world. John F. Kennedy the current president of USA had to deal somthing whit it

The Different Sides

Soviet and China supported the north, and wanted to unite Vietnam under the communist pennant. Without weapons and provisions the shout was doomed to fall. The USA came in and helped the south. Later France also started to support South Vietnam.

Saigon

Saigon was the “capital” of the South Vietnam during the war. Saigon was also know as Ho Chi Minh-city. Saigon was heavily bombed in the war and it fall to the North 30th April 1975, that marked the end of the Vietnam war. Lots of people had no home.

In 1975 the communists of the north pushed their forces to Saigon, and drove out the Americans. The Vietnam War had been a guerrilla war not an armywar. And after 18 years of war over 3 million people died in the war.



Weapons and strategy under the Vietnam war



Guerrilla war is a form of war that’s popular to use if your army is outnumbered. It’s offend an nocturnal act. A few guerrilla worriers sneak in at night, steal something, kill some soldiers or explode a whole military camp. Guerrilla warfare was the mainly used in the Vietnam War, especially the native Vietnamese. They could hide in the jungle by day, and raid the US outposts at night.
